Using conventions from real media texts Reflection

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? In what ways have your productions used or developed conventions from real media products? In our production we features the main protagonist wearing formal clothes and the antagonist wearing a hooded coat. This uses conventions from real media products because the main protagonist in action thriller films are normally professional where as the antagonist of a action thriller is normally dressed more casually. In what ways have your products challenged or played with conventions? Is your work generic or experimental, or both? Have you developed a style? Have you been influenced by the work of specific directors etc?

Post-production Reflection

What have you learned from your audience feedback? What editing decisions were made? How did they inform the production? When the main protagonist hides behind a tree the screen fades to black and then to the antagonist on the floor. This informed our media product because it made it look more professional. Another thing that made our media product successful was the film production companies at the beginning of our final opening scene. Our first film production company flashed onto the screen and our second production company faded into colour from black and white. What particular editing tools were used to what effect? We used the cutting tool to shorten our clips How did the post-production process enhance the overall production? Having a post production process meant that we could structure our opening scene. During this process we could decide what type of music we want to add depending on what's happening in the scene. We could also decide on what camera shots we wan...

Research and Planning Reflection

What real media audiences did you look at? We looked at the teenage audience because we thought that more teenagers would be attracted to this type of film genre. How did they inform your thinking about your media production? Looking at real media audiences helped us establish what our target audience like to watch and what types of things in films our target audience enjoy. We could then incorporate things that our target audience like into our films. How did you record all that research? We created a questionnaire that could be filled out by our target audience. This gave us an idea of what the audience wanted to be featured in our final media product. What primary research was undertaken? Primary research was the questionnaire that we created to find out what our audience wanted. What secondary research was undertaken? We used the website Pearl and Dean to find out what types of people were going to watch action thriller films. How did it inform the production? This ...

Creativity Reflection

How did you use media forms to come up with something new and original? Where did your ideas come from? We looked at different films in the same genre. Taken was the film we all had watched so we took the idea of having our main protagonist as a secret agent. In the film there were also lots of chase scenes and fight scenes. This made us want to also feature a chase and fight scene in our final media product. How did you work collaboratively to share ideas? We created a mind map to brain storm our ideas. How did you change things? Originally we had an idea where the main protagonist would wake up from a dream where he meets the main antagonist but then actually meet him real life afterwards. In the end we decided to do a chase scene and fight scene because our original idea didn't have any scenes which made the audience wonder if the main protagonist would survive. How did you use tools like Adobe Premier Elements etc to achieve something imaginative? We used Adobe Prem...

Digital Technology Reflection

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? What software was used? In our AS media coursework we used Adobe Premier Elements 10, Blogger and YouTube. Adobe Premier Elements 10 was used to edit all our clips together to create our final media product. What equipment was used? We used a Camera and Tripod to film the clips for our final media product. The camera was used to film the clips for our final media product. The tripod was used to keep the camera steady while we filmed our clips. What were the technical pros and cons of the software and hardware? The software we used was easy to use meaning we didn't have to use too much learning how to use the software. Filming our clips with the school camera wasn't ideal because the quality and the sound wasn't very good. To mount our camera we borrowed the school's Tripod. This was helpful because it was easy to set up and it meant that the camera wasn't un...
