Psycho Trailer Analysis (Horror Genre)
As soon as the trailer starts there is a sharp high pitched sound which is accompanied by quick glimpses of someone in the shower. In the last part of this scene the main antagonist which is holding a knife opens the shower curtains and kills the person in the shower. The music and fast paced editing creates tension in the audience but then the music and pace of the editing becomes slow. Later on in the trailer the pace and music speed up when the camera zooms in on the murderer at the beginning of the trailer. The change in pace creates lots of tension because the audience will expect something to happen when the pace speeds up. In the middle of the trailer the director's name fades onto the screen. This may encourage more people to watch the film because the director might have directed other films that the audience has liked. Throughout the trailer there are also lots of close ups of the main protagonist's face. Normally the close ups show that the main protagonist is worried or scared. At the end of the trailer the title of the film fades in from black and slashes of blood appear on top of the title. After the title appears a creepy close up of a man appears accompanied by music which makes the audience think that the man is the killer in the movie.
