John Wick Trailer Analysis (Action Thriller Genre)

 

When the trailer begins the main protagonist is introduced and rock music is played while he takes his dog for a ride in his car. The music fades out when he stops to refuel his car and a young man asks how much money for the car. When the main protagonist refuses the offer the men then break into his house to steal the car and kill his dog in the process. This creates tension in the audience and makes them wonder what will happen next. In the next scene the main protagonist tells the audience that the dog was the last gift from his wife and then the trailer shows that the main protagonist is a formidable killer. Up beat music is being played in this scene and there are long shots of the city skyline which creates tension. Next lots of action scenes which include guns, chase scenes and explosions. The part of the trailer is fast paced and makes the trailer very exciting to watch. There is also a scene where the young man who stole his car says "I'm not afraid of John Wick" and John Wick replies "Uh huh". This scene is effective because it makes seem like everyone is afraid of John Wick.
