Robin Hood Prince of Thieves Genre Conventions


What do you expect to see in an action adventure film?
The conventions of an action adventure film normally consists of fight scenes, chase scenes and a journey that the main characters embark on. Action adventure films normally have the good people versus the bad people. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves conformed to the conventions of an action adventure movie because it has good people versus bad people which is also the poor people versus the rich people.

  At the start of the trailer there are close ups of letters and long shots of scenes of war. The shots quickly fade into one another while there is also dialogue of people reading the letters. This is effective because it makes the audience sympathise for the soldiers. In the next scene there is a conversation between two members of the army and they talk about three brothers who have died in the war. When they talk about the fourth brother the colonel says that they are going to send somebody to find him. During this piece of dialogue there is a close up of the character Pvt.
