The Dark Knight Trailer Analysis (Action Adventure Genre)
At the beginning of the trailer there is a bird's eye view of the city at night before the Batman jumps down from the roof. As he falls there is an explosion and the production companies quickly flash up on the screen. The music used in this scene is constantly speeding up until he jumps off the roof. This makes the scene very dramatic and encourages the audience to watch more. Next the main characters in the film quickly appear on the screen and then there is a close up of the Joker saying "it's simple, kill the Batman". Fast paced editing is used in this first part of the trailer to quickly introduce characters and tell the audience about the story. This is then followed up by a crowd of people screaming and running away while the Joker laughs in the background. A medium and long shot is then used to show a building exploding. This creates tension because the audience now know that there will be a fight between good and evil. In the next scene a female character is introduced which is a love interest for Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent. More people will now be attracted to come watch the film because there is a love triangle. Towards the end of the trailer the pace of the editing changes so that there is compilation of explosions and car chase scenes. The music played is dramatic and speeds up as the trailer comes to an end. This creates tension and makes the audience want to know what happens in the film.
